Hij komt helemaal van de andere kant van de aarde en het idee is, nu het eenmaal bestaat, eigenlijk heel voor de hand liggend; een reddingsboot die niet alleen kan varen, maar ook kan rijden. Een 'amfibievaartuig' dus, ook al hebben de bedenkers ervan die naam niet op het etiket geplakt. De vinding van Sealegs, een bedrijf in Nieuw-Zeeland, werd gisteren getest op het strand van Ouddorp door Koninklijke Nederlands Redding Maatschappij (KNRM). Een woordvoerder was meteen enthousiast. Aan de voorkant zit één wiel en achter zitten er twee, die makkelijk en snel zijn uit- en in te klappen. Reuze handig om het water in en uit te rijden, hetgeen bij de tests op het strand van Ouddorp ook goed is gelukt. We gaan serieus nadenken of dit type boot iets voor ons is in gebieden met laagwater en op het strand.

The YAKKAir HP1 awarded "Etoile du Design 2010"

At the annual Design Award ceremony organised by the APCI (Agence pour la Promotion de la Création Industrielle) on 22nd October 2009, Bic Sport was awarded an « Etoile du Design » for its high-pressure inflatable YAKKAir HP 1.

This "Observeur du Design" award ceremony is now in its 11th year and each year rewards the most innovative creations that are the fruit of industry and designers working closely together.

TheYAKKAir's innovative concept, the specific materials chosen, its particular design impressed the jury, which is composed of a panel of experts and professionals.

A total of 183 creations, coming from various branches of activity as diverse as the car industry, phone, items of daily life, home environment, urban furniture, leisure..., were submitted to the jury who had the task of selecting the 37 most outstanding creations.

The YAKKAir, along with the other creations that received an award, will be on show in Paris at the Cité des Sciences de la Villette until 21st February 2010.
